Landing Page Conversion Tracking Checklist
Write an event inventory
For each action, record its meaning, trigger, destination system and intended reporting use. Keep diagnostic interactions separate from primary conversion outcomes.
- Form submitted successfully: verify server acceptance and delivery.
- Call button clicked: label it as a click unless call completion is measured.
- WhatsApp opened: do not describe this as a received or qualified enquiry.
- Purchase completed: confirm transaction, value and currency.
- Booking accepted: distinguish a booked appointment from opening the calendar.
Use a practical test sheet
Test valid, invalid and repeated actions across mobile and desktop. Include consent choices, ad-blocking conditions where relevant and any handoff to another domain. In an illustrative form flow, a client-side success animation may appear while email delivery fails; the business record is an essential part of the check. Avoid placing names, phone numbers or email addresses in URLs and general analytics parameters.
Maintain the measurement
Keep the event definition and test date with the page documentation. Retest after changes to forms, routing, analytics or consent handling. Compare reported conversions with unique business records and explain differences instead of treating every click as a customer. Reliable tracking improves decisions; it does not make attribution perfectly complete or remove the need to review lead quality.
