Ecommerce Website Cost in India: What to Budget
List the build and running costs
Separate one-time implementation from recurring platform and operating costs. Ask which items are supplied by the business and which are part of the developer’s scope.
- Store setup: design, templates, navigation and essential content.
- Catalogue: number of products, variants, data cleanup and import work.
- Checkout: payments, shipping logic and applicable business requirements.
- Integrations: inventory, order processing, email or other agreed systems.
- Operations: hosting or platform plan, domain, extensions and support.
Use a quote comparison worksheet
For each proposal, write the included product count, template scope, revision rounds, migration work, payment setup and acceptance tests. Add twelve months of known recurring fees to understand the first-year commitment. A hypothetical store with 30 simple products and manual fulfilment is a different scope from a catalogue with thousands of variants and inventory synchronisation. This comparison is not a market-rate estimate or a fixed Reddystack price.
Agree acceptance and ownership
Test a real checkout path, failed payment, stock change, shipping calculation and order confirmation. Confirm who owns the accounts and who can update products after handoff. Clarify support boundaries and the cost of later changes. Avoid selecting solely on the cheapest build quote when essential catalogue preparation, recurring tools or operational checks are omitted. Ask for a scoped proposal against your actual store requirements.
