AI UGC-Style Video Disclosure: A Review Checklist
Separate three questions
Is the presenter or scene synthetic? Is the message an advertisement or sponsored endorsement? Does the content imply a real person had an experience? These questions can require different explanations; one small “AI” label does not automatically resolve all of them.
- Do not invent a customer review or present a synthetic speaker as a satisfied customer.
- Do not imply a person endorsed the offer without permission.
- Identify commercial relationships where applicable.
- Use an appropriate platform label and understandable disclosure when required.
Review what an ordinary viewer would infer
An illustrative AI presenter explaining a website service can be described as an AI presenter. A script saying “I bought this and doubled my sales” creates a purported personal experience and result that need real evidence; labelling the speaker AI does not make a fabricated claim true. Check the complete video, caption, landing page and visual context together.
Keep evidence with the project
Record asset and likeness permissions, approved claims, the publication market and the disclosure decision. The FTC’s endorsement resources explain relevant US advertising principles; other countries and platforms have their own requirements. This checklist is a production review aid, not a determination that a particular advertisement complies with every applicable law. Obtain qualified advice for uncertain or regulated claims before publication.
