Ad Creative Brief Template

A useful ad creative brief gives the designer or editor enough information to make a decision. Copy the fields below into your project document and fill them before production starts.

The brief to copy

Campaign name: __. Business owner: __. Review owner: __. Due date: __. Primary outcome: __. Audience and buying situation: __. Offer and destination URL: __.

  • Message: the one thing the audience should understand.
  • Evidence: approved product facts, demonstrations or customer proof supporting that message.
  • Objection: the specific doubt this creative should answer.
  • Action: the next step and what happens after it.
  • Assets: logo, fonts, product images, footage, references and usage rights.
  • Deliverables: concepts, lengths, aspect ratios, languages and editable files required.

An illustrative completed message

For a website service, the message might be “make it easier for customers to request a quote from their phone.” The evidence could be a real form demonstration; the action could be “review the project scope.” That is more usable than “make a viral premium ad.” Label any mockup as a concept and do not present invented customer results as proof.

Agree review and testing rules

Specify included revision rounds and who provides one consolidated response. Define which variable each version changes: hook, demonstration, offer framing or visual treatment. Keep the destination and measurement ready before judging creative performance. Store the final approved brief beside the exports so the campaign operator can connect each file to its intended audience and test.
