How to Request Google Reviews from Customers

Ask real customers for an honest review after a meaningful interaction. Make the request easy to understand without steering the rating or rewarding a positive response.

Use a neutral request

An example message: “Thank you for choosing [business]. If you would like to share your experience, you can leave an honest Google review here: [review link]. Your feedback helps us understand what worked and what we can improve.” Send it only through a contact channel you are entitled to use.

  • Request feedback from eligible customers consistently, not only those expected to praise you.
  • Do not offer discounts, gifts or payment for a review.
  • Do not ask staff or fabricated accounts to pose as customers.
  • Do not pressure a customer to remove an honest negative review in exchange for help.

Choose a sensible moment

Ask after the customer has enough experience to give useful feedback. For an illustrative completed service, that may be after delivery and follow-up rather than immediately after the first enquiry. Use the actual review link from the eligible profile and test it before sending. Avoid repeated reminders that become intrusive.

Respond and learn

Acknowledge feedback without exposing order details, personal information or private disputes. Investigate service problems through the appropriate private channel. Google’s review policies prohibit fake engagement and certain incentivised or selectively solicited reviews. Keep the request process focused on genuine customer feedback; a larger rating count is not worth undermining trust in the business.
