Google Business Profile Optimization Checklist
Review the profile fields
Confirm the business is eligible and represented according to Google’s current rules. Keep access under the business’s control and avoid creating duplicates for the same operation.
- Name: use the real business name without promotional keyword additions.
- Category: select the most appropriate primary category and relevant additional categories.
- Location or service area: show only what the business is entitled to represent.
- Hours: maintain regular and special hours accurately.
- Contact: test phone, website and applicable booking links.
- Media: use real, authorised images that help customers understand the business.
Check the customer experience
View the profile as a customer on a phone. Follow the website link and attempt the main contact action. Ensure the landing page agrees with the profile about services, coverage and identity. A correct profile that sends visitors to a broken form still creates a poor enquiry experience.
Maintain it with evidence
Request reviews from real customers without incentives or selective gating. Respond appropriately while protecting private customer information. Keep a dated record of profile changes and investigate unexpected edits. Do not create unsupported offices or add services that are not offered. Review applicable Google guidance before making material address, category or eligibility changes.
