Improve Lead Quality from Google Ads
Give rejection reasons names
Review a representative sample with the person who handles enquiries. Mark duplicates, wrong service, outside coverage, wrong budget, uncontactable and qualified. Record response timing so a missed call is not automatically blamed on targeting.
- Wrong service: compare search terms and ad-group themes with the landing page.
- Wrong geography: inspect location settings and observed customer locations.
- Research-only interest: clarify the service and commercial next step.
- Uncontactable: check validation, duplicate records and response handling.
Optimise for a meaningful outcome
Illustrative comparison: two campaigns spend ₹8,000 each. One produces 40 enquiries with four qualified; the other produces 20 with eight qualified. The second campaign has the lower qualified-lead cost despite its higher raw CPL. If feasible, plan measurement of qualified outcomes with appropriate permissions and data handling. Do not blindly change the bidding goal to an untested event.
Run a focused correction
Choose one cause supported by the data, such as an irrelevant query theme or an unclear minimum scope. Update the relevant negative keywords, copy or qualification question and review both enquiry volume and suitability. Avoid claiming improved quality merely because fewer people submit. The end point is more useful customer conversations at a sustainable acquisition cost.
